About

I live and work in rural mid Wales near Aberystwyth.
My goal is to share my love of working and playing outdoors in this beautiful part of the world by providing empowering training, by energising the local woodland economy and by improving access to the outdoors.
I am an experienced chainsaw trainer and I now have the privilege of working with many of the people I have trained over the years. I am now expanding my range of professional courses by working with local rural skill trainers to be able to offer courses in woodland management, horse-logging, small scale wood milling and product making.
I believe that in order to be a good trainer, you actually have to be out there doing the work on a regular basis. Forestry and Estate Management Services carries out contracts on the local footpath network, clearing overgrown paths and installing steps, gates and bridges. It also carries out small scale forestry projects and clearance of dangerous trees.
I love to solve tricky problems and to help people achieve personal projects. Using my contacts with local wood suppliers I design and build wooden structures, benches, compost toilets and adventure playgrounds.
My three micro businesses work together in helping to energise the local economy by creating demand for small woodland products and by equipping people with the skills to improve local woodlands and to create products from them. Improving local footpaths also enables everyone to have greater access to outdoor spaces and all of the benefits this brings.
I work with several trusted local contractors to enable me to offer services in Horse Logging, Timber Milling, Woodland Management and to work with me on larger projects.
Andy is a registered Lantra trainer and City and Guilds/NPTC assessor. He can train or coach you in chainsaw, brushcutter, hedge-trimmer or quad bikes. We also run one-day informal training courses for those wishing to use their chainsaw at home for cutting firewood, milling timber or chainsaw sculpture.
